2 Saturdays 22nd Feb & 1st March Knowing which glazes to use or how thickly or even how thinly to apply them is one of the trickiest parts of creating ceramic work, in this 2 part workshop you will create decorative tiles in week 1 and to help with the glazing process you will also use brush on glazes with pre bisqued tiles with various textures. Your work will be bisqued and your test tiles will be glazed fire for the second session. Using these test tiles will help you decide which glazes to choose and how best to apply them. Overall: Create textures using impressing, incising, stamping and relief techniques and bring these to life with create glazing techniques: Impressing, incising, stamping experimentations Create tiles/panels/shallow dishes using texture Exploring glazing - application of semi transparent glazes on experimentation pieces creating a harmonious and/or contrasting colour palette Glaze final outcome tiles/panels/dishes Figment Ceramics is a ceramic design studio based in rural County Down, founded by designer - maker Jakki Trainor. Established in 2016, Figment Ceramics draws inspiration from Jakki's love of nature and folklore producing illustrative ceramics that depict both real and imagined flora and fauna. Pattern and impressed decoration are an intrinsic part of Jakki's trademark style along with her palette of shimmering green and blue glazes.
